Acro Yoga Workshop

Acro Yoga is a combination of acrobatics, yoga, and thai massage therapeutics. This practice is tremendous for many reasons but here are my top three: 1) gaining or gauging balanced mobility and strength in the hamstrings, hips, and ankles, 2) training proprioception, which is the strongest predictor of pain-free living, and 3) cultivating trust (in yourself and others), communication (specifically, how to ask for what you need) and sensitivity with your partners. The workshop will begin with a series of acro yoga conditioning drills to develop the skills needed for counter balancing. Next, we will explore partner-assisted ways to practice the essential components of handstand - alignment, tightness, and balance - because much of acro yoga involves being upside down if you're flying. The bulk of the workshop will consist of learning how to enter and exit the fundamental poses in L-basing with fluidity and most importantly how to become excellent spotters.

Plant-centered Eating Workshop

This workshop will address the harmful myths surrounding plant-centered eating, specifically that vegans and vegetarians do not get enough protein and are at risk for other nutrient deficiencies on a plant-based diet. How is a plant-centered eating approach different from a plant-based diet? What nutrients are very important to make sure you are getting enough of whether you are on a plant-centered diet or a standard American diet? How do you know you're getting enough? Why are the nutrients from whole foods preferred over supplements and when should you choose to take supplements? What are the reasons for choosing a plant-centered approach to eating? What are some examples of a plant-centered meal? All of these questions will be addressed in the two-hour workshop. There will be ample time for questions at the end and all are welcome to bring fruit to share during the workshop to snack on. Please prepare to sit on the floor for this workshop.
