Acro Yoga is a combination of acrobatics, yoga, and thai massage therapeutics. This practice is tremendous for many reasons but here are my top three: 1) gaining or gauging balanced mobility and strength in the hamstrings, hips, and ankles, 2) training proprioception, which is the strongest predictor of pain-free living, and 3) cultivating trust (in yourself and others), communication (specifically, how to ask for what you need) and sensitivity with your partners. The workshop will begin with a series of acro yoga conditioning drills to develop the skills needed for counter balancing. Next, we will explore partner-assisted ways to practice the essential components of handstand - alignment, tightness, and balance - because much of acro yoga involves being upside down if you're flying. The bulk of the workshop will consist of learning how to enter and exit the fundamental poses in L-basing with fluidity and most importantly how to become excellent spotters.
